Patch

On Thursday May 20, 2015 around 1:00AM Officers with the Waterloo Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team attempted to stop a white Mercedes Benz in the area of Berkshire Rd and Hampshire Rd. Officers received information that thirty-year-old David Lee Sailor was riding around in the vehicle on this date. Officers knew Sailor had several warrants for his arrest and had fled from Officers in recent weeks.

When Officers initiated a traffic stop the vehicle originally pulled over and then accelerated away as Officers approached it on foot. A short time later the vehicle began to slow down and Sailor jumped out of it as the vehicle continued in motion. Sailor initially fell to the ground and then fled from Officers on foot. Officers caught up to Sailor and a short struggle ensued. Sailor was eventually tasered by Officers in order to get him into custody. Sailor was transported to Allen Hospital and he was treated for some minor injuries sustained when jumping out of the moving vehicle.

Twenty-one-year-old Ajla Mujakic was identified as the driver and registered owner of the vehicle who fled from Officers during the incident. Mujakic was located after a period of time and taken into custody.  Sailor was booked into the Black hawk County Jail for interference with official acts along with several arrest warrants. Mujaki c was charged with interference with official acts and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Additional charges are pending
