On Friday September 25, 2015 round  12:30am Officers with the Waterloo Police Department attempted to stop a black Ford Taurus in the area of Washington St. and Highway 63 reference a warrant investigation.  Officers had identified the driver as eighteen-year-old Nicholas Campbell-Scott of Palo.  Officers recognized Campbell-Scott and knew he had a no bond probation violation warrant and warrants out of other jurisdictions.  Officers later determined Campbell-Scott was listed as an escapee from the residential center in Linn County.  Campbell-Scott began to accelerate and led Officers on a vehicle pursuit.  The vehicle pursuit ended at W. 2nd St. and Western Ave. after Campbell-Scott lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.  Campbell-Scott attempted to flee from the vehicle and he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.  The passenger was identified as sixteen-year-old Dewon Campbell Jr.  Campbell Jr. also attempted to flee from the vehicle and was taken into custody.  Officers recovered two loaded handguns several feet away from the vehicle that had been thrown at the end of the pursuit.  Both subjects were booked into the Black Hawk County Jail where Campbell-Scott was charged with Inteference with Official acts involving a firearm, carrying weapons, OWI-eluding and Driving While License Suspended.  Campbell Jr. was charged with interference with official acts involving a firearm and carrying weapons.
