On May 10, 2020 Officers assigned to the Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) stopped a vehicle for a moving violation in the area of W. 5th St. and Grant Ave. Officers observed a handgun in plain view and detained the four occupants in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed three additional handguns located on or around the occupants for a total of four handguns seized. One of the firearms returned stolen from a burglary that occurred in Oelwein, IA in 1989. The following subjects were arrested:

Quinto rey Farshawn D'Quan Kemp, 22, of Waterloo: Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Carrying Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense

Avion Jamicheal Bennett, 21, of Waterloo: Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person/DA Offense, Carrying Weapons 

Kristian Lee Gibson, 20, of Waterloo: Carrying Weapons X2, Possession of Stolen Property/Theft 4th 

 

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
