Patch

On Tuesday, September 23, 2008 Waterloo Police officers conducted alcohol compliance checks at local businesses to ensure that merchants are selling alcoholic beverages according to the State Code of Iowa.  Officers randomly selected twenty-three businesses to check for compliance.  Of the twenty-three that were checked, twenty-one of the businesses were found to be compliant while two were found to be non-compliant. Two persons were issued  citations for sale of alcohol to a person under age.  Also listed is the business the person was working at when the violation occurred.

Lisa Ann Wach, age 47, was working at Elite Liquor at 1309 Lafayette Street in Waterloo.

Sebina Kostic, age 25, was working at Hy-Vee Gas at 2221 Logan Avenue in Waterloo.  The business where the offense occurred is also subject to a civil penalty and suspension of their liquor license. This Enforcing Under Age Drinking Laws (EUDL) project is funded through the Cedar Valley Promise and is intended to help businesses remain compliant with the law. Waterloo Police officers will continue checking local businesses to ensure they are selling alcoholic beverages according to the State Code of Iowa.  Captain John BeckmanWaterloo Police Department319-291-4383
