Patch

On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, the Waterloo Police Department received a report that a suspicious older white male, possibly in his fifties or sixties, had offered a ride to a 10-year-old girl walking home from school.  The girl declined the ride and the male left without incident in a vehicle described only as a green car.  The incident occurred as the girl walked home from Lou Henry School, at 312 Rachael Street, the afternoon of October 13th.

On Thursday, October 17, 2008, a similar incident was reported to staff at Kittrell Elementary School.  However, the investigation into that report determined it to be a hoax.

Waterloo Police are giving all school areas extra attention and would like to remind parents to speak with their children about school and neighborhood safety, and the importance of reporting suspicious encounters with anyone to their parents, school staff, and the police.
