Waterloo House Fire Intentionally Set

On 08-20-08 at approximately 5:52 A.M. the Waterloo Police Department and the Waterloo Fire department were sent to 1933 Franklin Street on report of a fire.

The fire was extinguished and it was determined that this fire had been intentionally set. There was extensive damage to the carport and some furniture inside the carport. Upon further investigation, two male juveniles were taken into custody.

Austin Jacob Fleshner, age 11, of 1927 Franklin Street, Waterloo, IA was charged with Arson in the 2nd Degree and Interference. Dalton Makenzie Tompkins, age 11, of 1811 Franklin Street, Waterloo, IA was charged with Arson in the Second Degree. The juveniles have been released to Juvenile Court Services.

The investigation continues.
