Man who jumped in river is arrested

On March 30, 2011, Waterloo Police were dispatched to 425 Pine on report of a subject taking his child and threatening to kill his child and himself. Officers found the subject on Fowler Street and he took off in his car.

Police pursued the subject and he led Officers on an lengthy pursuit. The pursuit ended when the subject stopped his car on the 4th Street Bridge and jumped into the Cedar River. The subject floated down the Cedar River and was rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On April 13, 2011, the subject, Clifton Antonio Jenes, age 19, of 217 Butler Street, Waterloo, was released from the hospital and taken into custody. He has been charged with Assault on a Peace Officer and Eluding Arrest.
