Arson Suspect Charged with Murder

On January 31, 2011, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were sent to 2861 Logan Avenue on report of a house fire. Investigators found Sandra Jo Nash, age 57, of 2861 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, dead at the scene.

On February 1, 2011, Waterloo Police arrested Glen Dean Jackson, age 50, of 2861 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa on the charge of Arson in the First Degree. He has been held in the Black Hawk County Jail since his arrest.

An autopsy was performed on Nash and her death was ruled a homicide. The cause of death was blunt force injuries to the head. Jackson had a large amount of blood and gasoline on his clothing. During questioning by Police, Jackson admitted to arguing with Nash and pushing her down. Police did find a hammer in the area where Nash's body was found.

Today, March 7, 2011, Waterloo Police charged Jackson with Murder in the First Degree. His bond was set at  $1,000,000.00. He remains in the Black Hawk County Jail.
