Captain Matt McGeough is currently assigned as the Patrol Division Commander.

Captain McGeough has been with the Waterloo Police Department since 2003.  He has previously served
on the Department's Citizen Response Unit, served as a Field Training Officer, Tactical Team Operator, and
as an Investigator with the Tri-County Drug Task Force.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2009,
in which he worked on Patrol, the Violent Crime Apprehension Team, and the Tactical Unit.  In 2017 he was
promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and spent time as the Patrol Shift Commander, the Investigation Division
Lieutenant and as the Tactical Unit Commander. 

Captain McGeough is a graduate of the Cedar Rapids Police Academy and was previously employed
as an Officer with the Iowa City Police Department.  He graduated from the University of Iowa in 2002
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Political Science with concentrations in Criminology
and Law.
