On Saturday, May 24, 2014, Officers of the Waterloo Police Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) teamed up with Officers from the Department of Correctional Services to conduct bar checks looking for clients of the DCS, who may be violating their probation or parole guidelines.

The following bars were checked by officers:
Westside
Casey's 218 Pub, 4014 University Avenue
Chasers Pub, 3005 University Avenue
The Wedge, 341 Fletcher Avenue
Briq House Bar & Grill, 307 W. 5th Street
Honeycomb Hideout, 929 W. 5th Street
Club Finesse, 313 W. 5th Street
Flirts Gentleman's Club, 319 Jefferson Street
Spicoli's, 3555 University Avenue

Eastside
Packers Inn, 201 Rath Street
Edo's Sports Bar, 110 E. 11th Street
Club 319, 229 East 4th Street
New World Lounge 2, 504 Riehl Street
Jet Lounge, 451 W. Parker Street

Several offenders were located and escorted from the bar. Their parole/probation officer is then notified of the violation. The departments plan to continue these type of checks in the future.
