Patch

Waterloo Police would like to make the public aware of a possible local scam involving a person or persons attempting to sell magazine subscriptions on the belief that it is helping a legitimate organization. The suspect(s) are saying that they are attempting to raise money for House of Hope based in Waterloo, Iowa. This is false and no such fundraising is taking place at this time. This has been confirmed through representatives from House of Hope. If you encounter an individual or a group of individuals attempting to do this type of activity, please report it to the local authorities. Like always, please attempt to verify these types of sales through either the actual company, business, or group. You can also check with the City to see if a group or business have the appropriate permit(s) for such activities.
