Tactical Unit
- The Waterloo Police Department’s Tactical Unit responds to “high-risk” situations with officers specially trained and equipped to handle potentially dangerous incidents.
- "High-risk" incidents include but are not limited to: hostage Incidents, narcotics raids, hazardous surveillance, sniper incidents, armed suicidal persons, barricaded suspects, felony warrant service, and fugitives refusing to surrender.
- All members are sworn officers who have volunteered for this extra-duty assignment.
- The unit has at least 3 specially equipped vehicles to assist them in their duties.
