The Waterloo Police Department is Proud to Announce the Officer of the Year for 2023.

Officer Mark Nissen is a 16 yrs. veteran who has served the community in several different divisions within our agency and is currently the SRO at Central Middle School.

Officer Nissen is well liked and respected by his colleagues and other agencies.  He is dependable and can be counted upon to complete any task assigned to him. 

The continued professionalism that Officer Nissen demonstrates in the course of his service to the community and his willingness to help fellow officers were traits recognized
by his peers, supervisors, and members of the administrative staff.
