On Monday, August 20^th, 2018 Waterloo Police arrested Denise Susanna Obrien on 2 counts of 1^st Degree Murder.    The charges stem from a fire in the early morning hours of April 22^nd, 2018  at 536 Dawson Ave, Waterloo.   Ashley Smith age 32 and Jaykwon Sallis age 9 both died as the result of that fire.        

 

Obrien was arrested on April 23^rd, 2018 for Violation of No Contact Order and has remained in custody since that time on a variety of criminal charges.   The No Contact Order was issued on April 13^th and was the result of Obrien being involved in vandalism at 536 Dawson Street.   On April 24^th Obrien admitted to being at 536 Dawson and being involved in an argument.
