On Friday, April 12, 2019 at about 2231 hours, Officers with the Violent Crimes Apprehension Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for moving and equipment violations near the intersection of Randolph and West 2nd Street. During the stop, Corey Crawley (Age 28) was identified as a passenger of the vehicle. During the stop, Officers had probable cause to search the vehicle and occupants. During the search of Crawley, Officers observed and heard a firearm fall from Crawley's person. After a short struggle, Crawley was placed under arrest. The firearm was a semi-auto .22 cal handgun and was loaded with one in the chamber. The weapon was discovered to be stolen from a larceny case back in 2017. Crawley was charged with Possession of Firearm as Felon, Interference with Official Acts (Two Counts), Theft 4th, and Carrying Weapons. He was booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
