On Sunday, July 18th, 2021 around 9:18 PM Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue responded to the area of the 100 block of W. Argyle St for a report of shots fired, and a child being struck by gunfire. A 5-year-old was located suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The 5-year old was treated and transported to Allen hospital by Waterloo Fire Rescue and it was found the bullet had broken her left arm.
Officers were told that the suspects were four black males last seen running from the area. Through the investigation into this matter, officers recovered approximately 30 spent casings, including 9 mm, .40 caliber and .45 caliber. Investigators were able to recover video from several locations that showed the suspects shooting at an SUV that was south bound on Logan as it drove by Argyle St.
Through the investigation Officers were able to identify suspects in this shooting. During the early morning hours of August 24th, 2021 offices served a total of 5 search warrants in regards to this investigation. As the result of these warrants, three 17 year old males were taken into custody and charged with, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and Willful Injury.
