On Monday, July 20^th 2020 at about 2212 hours Officers with the Waterloo Police Department were dispatched to the 2800 block of E. 4^th Street for shots fired in the area. Officers arrived in the area and learned a shooting had taken place in the alley to the east of the 2800 block of E. 4^th Street.  As Officers were arriving on E. 4th Street a 15 year old male identified as Cortez J Harrison arrived by private vehicle at Allen Memorial Hospital. Harrison had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive. Harrison was pronounced dead a short time later by hospital staff.

Waterloo Police confirmed that the shooting did occur in the alley to the east of the 2800 block of East 4^th Street. The crime scene is currently being processed. An autopsy of Harrison will be completed in the near future at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.
