On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 2:19 PM Waterloo Officers were sent to Wal-Mart at 1334 Flammang Dr. on a report of weapons violation. Consolidated dispatch had received several calls of three to four males brandishing weapons in the parking lot. As officers were in route, information was given that three of the males had left in a dark colored vehicle and one of the males was currently inside the store. Officers arrived and began checking the store for the one male suspect and the surrounding area for the vehicle with the other suspects. Officers located the one male suspect inside the store. The suspect attempted to flee, and a short foot pursuit took place with the suspect eventually being taken into custody. The suspect has been identified as 18 yrs old Jessie Javon Small of Waterloo. Officers have recovered a handgun. Small is being charged with Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, Assault while displaying a Weapon, Interference with Official Acts, and Possession of Marijuana. During the investigation no reports of shots fired were reported or discovered.
