Patch

On Tuesday, September 9, 2008 Waterloo Police officers conducted alcohol compliance checks at local businesses to ensure that merchants are selling alcoholic beverages according to the State Code of Iowa. Officers randomly selected forty businesses to check for compliance. Of the forty that were checked, thirty-nine of the businesses were found to be compliant while one was found to be non-compliant.

One person was issued a citation for sale of alcohol to a person under age. Also listed is the business the person was working at when the violation occurred.

Janice Porter M. Jordan, age 36, was working at Broadway Liquors, 821 Broadway Street in Waterloo.

The business where the offense occurred is also subject to a civil penalty and suspension of their liquor license.

This Enforcing Under Age Drinking Laws (EUDL) project is funded through the Cedar Valley Promise and is intended to help businesses remain compliant with the law.

Over the next several weeks Waterloo Police officers will continue checking local businesses to ensure they are selling alcoholic beverages according to the State Code of Iowa.
