On Thursday, August 20, 2009 shortly before 12 am, Waterloo Police officers were called to 120 1/2 Harrison Street on a report of a stabbing. During the investigation officers learned that 22-year-old Torey James Evans of 810 North Barclay Street in Waterloo and 20-year-old Tamika Trinette Sanders of 33 Lafayette Street in Waterloo were the persons involved in this incident. Evans and Sanders have a 1-year-old child together.
Prior to the stabbing incident on Harrison Street, Evans went to Sanders' residence and forced his way into the home. A struggle ensued between Evans and Sanders and Evans wound up assaulting Sanders with a belt and then left the residence. Sanders was not injured during this assault.
Sanders, armed with a small knife from her residence, found Evans at 120 1/2 Harrison Street and stabbed him several times. Waterloo Fire Rescue Paramedics transported Evans to Allen Hospital were he was treated and released.
Evans was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree and assault domestic abuse simple.
Sanders was arrested and charged with willful injury and assault domestic abuse aggravated.
Evans and Sanders are presently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
