On Thursday, December 17, 2009, Waterloo Police investigated a burglary to a west side Waterloo residence where a large number of guns, some computers and other electronics were stolen.
Around 5 pm on December 17th investigators developed information that led them to 216 Boston Avenue where they found persons leaving the house with a number of guns in their possession. These persons were detained and officers were then led to believe that there were other persons in the house who were in possession of additional guns.
Officers surrounded the house and the nearby neighborhood and called the Department's Tactical Unit to the scene. After several hours and repeated attempts to make contact with whoever may have been in the house, the Tactical Unit deployed tear gas into the house and then made entry. No one was found in the house, but investigators found computers and other electronics, but no guns. Several of the stolen guns have yet to be recovered.
Eighteen-year-old Irwin Leon Wade III of 216 Boston Avenue was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, theft in the first degree, carrying weapons and possession of marijuana. Twenty-two-year-old Marc Anthony Nalls II, also of 216 Boston Avenue, was arrested and charged with possession of weapons by felon.
Waterloo Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating 20-year-old Cory Deshaun Carter who is a suspect in the burglary and theft of the guns. Carter is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. Investigators have obtained no bond arrest warrants charging Carter with burglary in the second degree and theft in the first degree. Anyone with information is asked to call the Waterloo Police Department at 319-291-4333.
