Waterloo Interim Chief of Police John Beckman is pleased to announce that Investigator Jeff Tyler has been selected as the Waterloo Exchange Club's 2009 Officer of the Year. Investigator Tyler will be honored at the Exchange Club's noon luncheon on Monday, February 8, 2010.
Investigator Tyler, age 35, graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1998 and joined the Waterloo Police Department in 1999. He is a graduate of Waterloo West High School, has an A.A. degree in Police Science from Hawkeye Community College and a B.A. degree in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University.
Investigator Tyler is currently assigned to the Investigation Division. Prior to that he served five years in the Patrol Division. Past assignments include Crime Scene Investigator and a member of the Bike Patrol unit.
Investigator Tyler's selection as Officer of the Year reflects highly on his professional ability, exceptional performance, and dedication to the Waterloo Police Department. Fellow officers describe Tyler as dependable, energetic and a good role model. He has an excellent attitude and displays a high level of professionalism.
