On February 24, 2010 at approximately 2:25 AM, Waterloo Police Officers were called to 1907 Commercial on a report that a subject just forced his way into a residence with a handgun and was holding a female resident at gunpoint. This was reported by a male subject who was at the residence at the time and was threatened with the handgun.
Officers arrived a short time later, surrounded the residence and took the suspect into custody without further incident. The handgun was located outside of the residence, buried in the snow.
The suspect was identified as Craig Joseph Knebel, age 41, of rural Jesup. Knebel was identified as an acquaintence of the female resident. He was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree, False Imprisonment and two counts of Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon.
There were no injuries reported in the incident. Knebel is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
