On November 21, 2010 at approximately 11:57 PM, members of the Waterloo Police Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) went to 747 Russell Road, Apartment #29. They were looking for a man who had a valid warrant for his arrest.
Officers obtained consent to search the apartment and found the man hiding in a closet. Arrested was Deondrae Dominique Washington, age 24, of 402 Ankeny Street, Waterloo. Along with being arrested for the Five year Mittimus Warrant, Washington was also charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Drug Tax Stamp Violation and Theft in the Third Degree (possession of stolen property).
During the search of the apartment, officers seized a large quantity of marijuana, $4,300 in cash and five handguns. Follow-up investigation found that the guns had been stolen from two separate Waterloo residences. Four of the guns were reported stolen in October 2010 from 99 Mosley Street. One of the guns was stolen from 857 Dawson Street in October 2009.
The recovered guns were a .45 caliber Ruger, a .22 caliber Smith & Wesson, a .44 magnum Taurus, a .44 caliber black powder Fratelli-Pietta and a Russian-made semi-automatic handgun.
Washington is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
