Juvenile found with drugs and gun

On November 1, 2010, at approximately 8:00 PM, Officers with the Waterloo Police, Violent Crime Apprehension Team, stopped a subject in the 900 block of West 5th Street for trespassing.

The follow-up investigation resulted in marijuana and a .22 caliber handgun being seized. Taken into custody was Malcom Jamal Nix, age 14, of 806 Walnut Street, Waterloo. He was charged with Carrying Weapons, Possession of a firearm as a felon, Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, Theft in the 5th degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Nix was taken to the Northeast Iowa Juvenile Detention Center where he is being held.

The Waterloo Police, Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT), is funded by a grant from the United States Department of Justice.
