Waterloo Man Charged with Robbery Following DNA Testing
On January 21, 2009 around 7:30 p.m. Waterloo Police officers responded to the 5 Star Snacks and More convenience store at 315 Fletcher Avenue on the report of a robbery that had just occurred. Officers learned that two black males entered the store and demanded money. One of the black males was armed with a handgun and had his face partially covered with a light colored garment. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash the black males ran from the store. The clerk was not injured during this incident.
Officers were able to recover discarded items of evidence connected to this robbery and those items were sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab for DNA testing purposes.
Through further investigation and DNA testing, a suspect was identified and arrested in connection with this robbery. On April 3, 2009 Waterloo Police officers charged 18-year-old Tramarus Deontae Dixon of 622 Boston Avenue, Waterloo with robbery in the first degree. Dixon is presently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on a one hundred thousand dollar bond. Dixon's picture will not be released.
