Waterloo Man Arrested for Robbing Pizza Delivery Driver
On Monday, March 30, 2009 around 12:30 a.m., Waterloo Police officers responded to the 1300 block of West 2nd Street on a report that a pizza delivery driver had been robbed at gunpoint. While the driver was attempting to make a delivery at 1310 West 2nd Street four to five black males approached him. One of the black males pointed a handgun at the driver and demanded the pizzas, cash and the driver's cell phone. The driver handed over the pizzas and the cash, but refused to turn over his cell phone. A struggle then ensued and during the struggle the driver was struck along the side of his head. Also during the struggle the handgun the black male had in his possession broke. At this point the suspects ran from the scene with the pizzas and the cash. The driver was not seriously injured and officers later determined that the handgun was actually a toy.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2009 during the course of this investigation officers arrested J. C. Shonteze Cockhren, age 23, and charged him with robbery in the second degree. Cockhren lists no permanent address, but resides in Waterloo. Cockhren is presently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on a one hundred and ten thousand dollar bond.
This investigation is ongoing.
