Suspect Taken into Custody on Gun Charges

On Thursday May 24, 2012 Officers with the Waterloo Police Department Violent Crime Apprehension Team attempted to make contact with a suspect in the area of Cottage/Manson St. reference an ongoing investigation.  The suspect was identified as eighteen-year-old Sadorieous Daquiel Collins of Waterloo.  Collins immediately discarded a backpack and attempted to flee from Officers on foot.  Officers apprehended Collins after a foot pursuit and found he was in possession of marijuana.  Officers also located a loaded .357 Magnum revolver in the backpack that Collins discarded. 

Collins was book in at the Black Hawk County Jail on felonies for possession of a firearm as a felon and interference with official acts involving a firearm.  Collins was also charged with misdemeanors for carrying weapons and possession of marijuana 2nd offense.
