Three Des Moines Men Arrested on Felony Gun Charges
Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crimes Apprehension Team have taken three suspects into custody on felony gun charges. On January 13, 2012 Officers took twenty-nine-year-old Ryan Danell Marshall and thirty-three-year-old Darrel Fernando Hardy into custody on felony gun charges. Officers later coordinated with the Des Moines Police Department regarding the investigation and had thirty-year-old Delvonn Mark Battle taken into custody on warrants related to the gun investigation.
The arrests were the result of a traffic stop conducted by Waterloo VCAT Officers in the area of Logan/Dawson St. on January 13th. Officers came into contact with all three suspects during the investigation on that date. While conducting the investigation, Hardy attempted to act as a decoy and flee from the vehicle on foot. Hardy was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit with Officers. Officers eventually searched the vehicle and located a loaded semi-auto 9mm handgun underneath the front passenger seat. Hardy was charged as a felon in possession of a firearm and interference with official acts, while Marshall was charged as a felon in possession of a firearm. Battle was later charged as a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying weapons. All three suspects are from Des Moines. Battle and Hardy are currently being held at the Black Hawk County Jail.
