On February 1, 2012 at approximately 7:30 PM, Waterloo Fire Rescue and Waterloo Police were sent to George Wyth State Park on a report that a person had fallen through the ice. Responding personnel found the person underwater. He was brought to the surface and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man has been identified as Wade William Clark, age 51, of Jade Street Lot #27, Cedar Falls, IA
