On Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at approximately 9:57 AM, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue responded to a bicycle / car accident on the 18th Street Bridge.

The bicyclist, Gene Edward Noble, age 75 of Elk Run Heights, Iowa was riding south on the 18th Street Bridge when he was struck from behind by the car. Noble was taken to Covenant Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the car, Maria Antoinette Franke, age 59, of Waterloo, IA was arrested and charged with 1st offense Operating While Intoxicated and Possession of Crack Cocaine.
