On Wednesday August 22, 2012 around 8:00pm, Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) made contact at 1104 Williston in regard to a weapons investigation.  While at the residence Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and three suspects were detained.  The suspects were identified as nineteen year-old Alexander Butler of Waterloo, Eighteen year-old Curtis McKenna of Waterloo and seventeen-year old Elliott Roos of Waterloo.   During a search of the residence Officers located two .22 caliber rifles along with other property that was later determined stolen during a car burglary in Jesup on August 21, 2012.

VCAT Officers also located ammunition, marijuana, paraphernalia and other items consistent with the sale and distribution of drugs at the residence.  During the investigation Officers further determined that Butler and Roos had fired multiple rounds from the rifles in the 1000 block of Bertch St. during the early morning hours of August 22.  A vehicle was struck several times by the bullets during that incident.

Alexander Butler was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana (felony), possession of stolen property/theft 4th degree, carrying weapons and criminal mischief 2nd degree (felony).  Curtis Mckenna was charged with possession of marijuana.  Elliott Roos was charged with possession of stolen property/theft 4th degree, carrying weapons, criminal mischief 2nd degree (felony) and possession of marijuana.  All three suspects were booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
