On Monday, May 6, 2013 at approximately 1:47 PM, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were dispatched to the 3800 block of West Ridgeway Avenue on report of a helicopter crash.

When officers arrived they found that the crash occurred on the north side of Ridgeway, in a field owned by John Deere and Company. The crash involved a small ultralight helicopter.

The owner/operator, Ronald Harris, age 60, of Waverly was transported to Covenant Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified about the crash. The case remains under investigation.
