On Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at approximately 2:20 PM, Waterloo Police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Texas Street on report of suspicious vehicle parked off the roadway on a gravel drive. In speaking with witnesses, they stated the vehicle had been parked there since Sunday, July 7th.

Officers checked with the registered owner of the vehicle and she told officers that her daughter had been driving the car and she had not seen her daughter for a couple of days. Officers then searched the area and found a body floating in the Cedar River.

The female has been identified as Shanda Fawn Werkmeister, age 35, of Waterloo. The cause of death is pending an autopsy in Ankeny on Thursday. The case remains under investigation.
