On Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 the Waterloo Police Department received a report of an armed robbery of an individual at the intersection of Lafayette and State streets.
The victim was sitting in her vehicle and was approached by a lone black male that was armed with a handgun. The suspect had his face covered with a bandana. The suspect fled the area on foot with another handgun that was stolen from the victim.
As a result of the investigation it was determined that more than one suspect was involved in this robbery. The victim identified one of the suspects as Julius Jones Jr., age 26, of Waterloo. Information was received that Jones had fled to Oklahoma City, OK.
On Friday, June 19, 2015, with the cooperation of the Oklahoma City Police Department Jones was located and taken into custody while still in possession of the stolen handgun.
Two other individuals that were with Jones at the time of the arrest were also detained; Dijonis Deontray Brown, age 15, who had a valid Iowa juvenile pick up order and a 15 year old female runaway from Iowa.
Jones was charged in Oklahoma with the crime of Possession of a Weapon as a Felon. He will be charged with Robbery 1st Degree in Black Hawk District Court pending his extradition back to Iowa.
