On Tuesday, September 15, 2016 the Waterloo Police Department responded to a 911 call of an armed robbery that just occurred at the I-Wireless cellular store, 1523 San Marnan Dr., Waterloo.
Two male suspects entered the business at gunpoint and ordered the employee to a backroom. The suspects then stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephones. Witnesses observed the suspects exiting the business with the stolen items and fleeing the area in a silver SUV. The employee was not injured during the robbery.
As a result of the investigation a suspect vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Pines Motel in Postville Iowa. The Waterloo Police Department requested assistance of the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team to execute a search warrant of the motel room occupied by the armed suspects. The occupants inside the motel room are being detained for questioning at this time.
This investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it become available.
