On Sunday October 25, 2015 at approximately 0051 hrs, Officers were dispatched to the area of Broadway and Riehl on report of motor vehicle accident involving injuries. Upon arrival it was found that two girls were attempting to cross Broadway. A vehicle only described as a black four door, unknown make and unknown model, left the parking lot of the New World Lounge and drove towards the girls as they were crossing the street. One of the girls was able to get out of the way of the car, the second, Lyisha Dixon, age 13, was struck by the right front corner of the vehicle. After she was struck the vehicle did not stop and left the area westbound on Broadway from Riehl. Dixon was transported to Allen Hospital where was treated for non-life threatening facial injuries.
Update:
Early Tuesday morning, October 26th, 2015, Steven Arceneaux Jr, age 30, contacted the police department to report that he may have been the driver that struck Lyisha Dixon on Sunday morning. Arceneaux voluntarily came to the police department upon request and it was determined that he was the driver the vehicle that struck Dixon. Steven Arceneaux Jr. was charged with Leaving The Scene of a Personal Injury Accident.
