Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team have filed additional charges stemming from a robbery that occurred in March of this year. On December 3, 2015 Officers obtained a warrant for robbery in the 1st degree for twenty-year-old Marcus Robert Sykes of Waterloo. Sykes is currently being held in Federal custody on unrelated gun charges.
On March 27, 2015 at 0017 hours Waterloo Officers responded to a gunshot victim at Covenant Emergency Room. Officers identified the victim as twenty-year-old Marquis Devonte Norris . During the investigation officers were able to determine that Norris was shot during a botched drug deal in the 1400 block of Jefferson Street. During the drug deal two suspects attempted to rob Norris and a female companion. Norris was shot in the upper torso as the incident unfolded.
Officers were able to identify both suspects as Marcus Sykes and twenty-one-year-old Jonathan Wilder through cooperating individual(s) and forensic evidence located at the scene. On November 27th, 2015 acting on a tip the Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's VCAT Unit arrested Jonathan Wilder at his residence of 1126 Leavitt Street on several outstanding warrants including robbery in the 1st degree, going armed with intent and felon in possession of a firearm.
