On Monday, February 29th, 2016 the Waterloo Exchange Club honored Officer Kyle Ullom as Officer of the year and Reserve Officer George Cummings as the Reserve Officer of the year.
Officer Ullom is a graduate of Crestwood High School, Hawkeye Community College and UNI. He started his career with the Waterloo Police Department in 2008. He is currently assigned to 3rd Watch Patrol and provides additional duties as a shift level Crime Scene Investigator. Officer Ulloms high work standards, desire, drive and compassion have made him an outstanding officer and a person other officers look to on 3rd Watch.
Reserve Officer George Cummings started as a Waterloo Reserve Officer in 2005 and is a very active member of the Reserve Unit. Reserve Officers are community volunteers who work a variety of assignments and events throughout the year. Reserve officer Cummings is a tremendous volunteer of his time in the community. In addition, to the Reserve Unit he is a member of the Patriot Guard, and assists in coordinating Honor Flight activities.
The Waterloo Police Department would like to thank these officers for their service and thank the Waterloo Exchange Club for honoring these officers and their dedication to duty.
Since 1970 there have been 39 different officers honored as "Officer of the Year".
