On Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 6:26 AM an off-duty Black Hawk County Deputy was in the parking lot of the Kwik Star at 1214 Franklin Street when he witnessed a shooting in the lot and requested assistance. Multiple officers responded to the scene. A suspect was taken into custody without incident after he shot at a vehicle that was occupied. The victim inside that vehicle was struck multiple times and was transported to Allen Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

This incident remains under investigation and no additional information is being released at this time.
