On Tuesday, March 7th, 2017 at approximately 10:07 A.M., Officers were dispatched to W. 4th Street and Western Ave in Waterloo for a report of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival officers located a victim who suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks. He was transported to Unity Point, Allen Hospital Emergency Department and was then taken to surgery and is listed in stable condition.
Officers spoke with witnesses who observed a suspect pull a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim firing multiple shots. Officers detained two suspects shortly after the shooting and during the search of the area a handgun was recovered. As the investigation continued a second handgun was recovered that was reported stolen from Davenport.
As a result of the investigation the following suspects were charged in Black Hawk County District Court:
Sahjit Phillips (age 18), of Waterloo; Intimidation with a dangerous weapon, Carrying weapons and Willful Injury.
William McNealy (age 16) of Waterloo; Intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
Kutarius Northern (age 21) of Marion; Theft 3rd degree (Possession of the stolen firearm), Carrying Weapons.
Ka’Leck Bolden (age 18), of Cedar Rapids; Carrying Weapons.
