Patch

On October 21st 2017 at 8:56 P.M. multiple 911 calls were received reporting shots fired inside and outside of Fusion Bar at 1915 Bourland Avenue. Officers determined that Rasim Husidic (age 39 of Waterloo) entered the bar, got into a verbal altercation with his estranged girlfriend, produced a handgun and pointed it at her and the bartender. A patron stepped in and was pistol whipped by Husidic, sustaining lacerations to the head. Husidic attempted to shoot the patron but the pistol malfunctioned twice. Husidic then fled the bar.

Husidic was located at 1151 Grant Ave. The Waterloo Police Tactical Unit was deployed and Husidic eventually surrendered without incident through communication with the negotiators.

Husidic was charged in Black Hawk County District Court with Going Armed with Intent, Willful Injury Class D, Assault with Intent While Displaying Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Firearm as Felon.

A Search warrant was executed at 1151 Grant Ave. but the pistol was not located. The Waterloo Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the handgun. It was determined that when Husidic fled on foot he had discarded the handgun between the Fusion Bar, 1915 Bourland Ave and his final location, 1151 Grant Ave. We are asking residents in that area to check their property and if the handgun is discovered please do not handle the weapon, immediately call the Waterloo Police Department.
