The Waterloo Police Department is saddened to inform the community of the sudden death of Waterloo Police Sergeant Robert J. Greenlee III.    Sergeant Greenlee was found deceased in his home on April 15, 2018.   Sergeant Greenlee joined the Waterloo Police Department in January of 1994 and was promoted to Sergeant in August of 2005.   Sergeant Greenlee served his community proudly as an officer and supervisor.   He will be greatly missed.   Under the Hometown Heroes Survivors’ Benefit Act, officers who die of certain medical conditions within 24 hours of their last shift are considered duty related deaths.    Sergeant Greenlee’s funeral (arrangements pending) will be conducted with full law enforcement honors.   Memorial contributions can be made to the Robert J. Greenlee III Memorial Fund at the Veridian Credit Union.
