Patch

On Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at approximately 5:40 PM Waterloo Police began to receive reports of threats towards Waterloo West and Expo High School being made over social media.   Working cooperatively with Waterloo Schools and social media providers, Officers were able to locate and charge a 15 year old juvenile on a charge of Threats of Terrorism.   The juvenile remains in custody at this time, pending a hearing.

We continue to investigate this incident, with the cooperation of the Waterloo School District, and other area law enforcement agencies.    We encourage anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Waterloo Police Department.

We are all committed to ensure the safety and security of the entire school system.   There will be an increased presence of law enforcement personnel in and around area schools for the next several days as a precautionary measure.   This will include Waterloo Police, Black Hawk County Sheriff and the Iowa State Patrol.

A criminal charge is an accusation.   A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
