On September 14th, 2019 Officers assigned to the Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) executed multiple search warrants regarding an ongoing weapons investigation. Officers located firearms and narcotics during the search warrants. Arrested was Martraz Wayne Wilson, 22, of 244-A Palmer Dr. Waterloo, IA for Possession of a Firearm as a Felon X2. During a search of Wilson’s apartment Officers located a Beretta .40 caliber handgun and Federal Arms Model FA91 .308 caliber rifle. Wilson is barred from possessing firearms due to a previous felony conviction.

Also arrested was Reginald Gewon Smith, 27, of 244-D Palmer Dr. Waterloo, IA for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver and Possession of K2 (Synthetic Marijuana) with Intent to Delive r. During a search of Smith’s apartment and vehicle Officers located distribution quantities of marijuana and synthetic marijuana, commonly referred to as K2 or Spice.

VCAT was assisted by the Waterloo Police Department’s Tactical Team, Safe Streets Task Force, Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force, and Patrol Division.
