On Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at approximately 9:47 AM, Waterloo Police responded to a report of shots fired at 3130 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. When officers arrived they discovered a male suffering from gunshot wounds, this male was treated by Waterloo Fire Rescue and transported to the hospital where he died. Through the initial investigation into this matter we have deter mined that the deceased, Bryce A Miller age 37, along with Rogelio Gonzalez age 28 were in a vehicle when they attempted to rob an armored car in the US Bank parking lot. Shots were fired during this incident. The vehicle fled the scene leaving Miller behind. The suspect vehicle was located unoccupied a few blocks from US Bank. Through this investigation Waterloo Police located Gonzalez in a vehicle at the Cedar Bend Kwik Star on March 11th. He was taken into custody without incident. Gonzalez was taken to the hospital where he received treatment for a gunshot wound and was released to police custody. Gonzalez was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and taken to the Black Hawk County Jail. This remains an active investigation. A Criminal Charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
