On Saturday August 15th at about 11:42 PM Waterloo Police and Fire were dispatched to 556 Adrian on a report of a shooting that just occurred.   When officers arrived they found Vincent J. Hemenway age 49 of Waterloo, was suffering from a gunshot wound.    Hemenway was transported to Allen Hospital where he later died. An autopsy was completed on August 18th, 2020, cause of death homicide.  

In speaking with witnesses, police were told that two males, wearing masks approached the garage that was occupied by the Hemenway and other witnesses.   One of the males attempted to take items from Hemenway.   Hemenway resisted and one of the subjects drew a firearm, firing several shots at the occupants of the garage.   Officers have recovered a firearm and cell phone that we believe were associated with this incident.  

Through the investigation into this incident, Waterloo Police have charged the following in relation to this incident.

On August 16th, 2020 Ralpheal R. Williams age 29 was arrested in the area of Lamont and Prince Street on unrelated warrants and has been held in jail since.   On August 19th, 2020 he was charged with 1st Degree Robbery in connection with this incident.

On August 18th, 2020 Ana H. Berinobis-McLemore age 24 was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree.  

This is an active ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.  The Water loo Police would like to thank all those that have and continue to assist in this investigation.

A Criminal Charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

While conducting this investigation Waterloo Police developed information and charged Robert Lee Williams Jr. age 31 in connection with the shooting of Tony Campbell on July 31st, 2020 at 2:20 PM in the 900 block of W. 6th. Robert Williams was charged with Possession of Firearm as a Felon, Willful Injury and Attempted Murder. In addition Robert Williams was charged with Possession of Firearm as a Felon and Intimidation with a weapon for his involvement in a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Argyle on August 2nd, 2020.  

All three remain in the custody of the Black Hawk County Jail.
