On October 9, 2020 Officers with the Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) executed a search warrant at 1256 W. Mullan Ave. reference a weapons investigation. VCAT Officers detained the suspect Malik Deshion Edwards, 24, of Water loo, as he left his residence. During a search of the residence Officers located two semi-auto handguns, marjiuana and evidence of drug distribution. Edwards is prohibited from possessing firearms due to multiple previous felony convictions including a Willful Injury felony conviction stemming from a shooting in 2019. Edwards was charged with two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and one count of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver while in possession of a firearm.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
