On Thursday October 29, 2020 at approximately 1108 Officers were dispatched to a shooting in the area of Courtland St. and Lane St. A victim also called police saying he was shot at while inside a vehicle. Officers located multiple .40 caliber shell casings in the area. The victim’s vehicle was struck by multiple bullets. Officers learned from witnesses that a suspect ran south towards the area of Franklin St. and Lane St. Officers soon developed a suspect identified as Travon Reed, 17, of Waterloo. Officers knew Reed to reside at 1420 Franklin St. Officers surrounded the residence and Reed eventually exited and was detained. A search warrant was executed and a stolen .40 caliber Glock handgun was recovered. The firearm was stolen out of Georgia. During an interview Reed admitted to possessing the firearm and shooting at the victim. Reed was charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon (C-Felony), Carrying Weapons and Theft 4th (Stolen Firearm). This case was investigated by the Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT), Patrol Division, Investigations Division and Safe Streets Task Force.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
