Waterloo, IA. The Waterloo Police Department continues to investigate the shooting that occurred in and around 501 W.4th Street, in Waterloo Iowa, where 22 year old Da’Curious (Dacarious) Burkett and 28 year old Takeya M. Hogan-Camp were shot and killed. In addition at least 8 other people were injured.
Since this incident Police have located and interviewed over 100 witnesses, ser ved over 50 court orders and processed countless pieces of evidence.
The investigation into this matter led to warrants being issued for Willie E. Saffold Jr. age 21 of Waterloo, Iowa for Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Firearms as a Felon. Police determined that Saffold was possibly staying in the Chicago area and began working with the United States Marshall’s Office in an attempt to take Saffold into custody. On Friday, October 30th, 2020 Saffold was located and taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls in Chicago without incident. He was later transferred and is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail .

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
